Due to a concussion sustained on the training field, Martin Odegaard was unable to play in two of Arsenal’s recent games.
The captain of Arsenal, Odegaard, was then ruled out of the victory over Sevilla and was unable to play in the subsequent victory over Burnley due to a hip problem.
The 24-year-old is also not playing for Norway during the international break because his team needs to make it through the play-offs in order to have any chance of qualifying for Euro 2024.
The incident happened at Arsenal’s London Colney training facility, where Odegaard was supposed to play before being left out of the team’s defeat on November 4.
According to Football Association regulations, a player must receive a medical clearance to resume exercise and then another clearance before engaging in full contact training and playing again.
It’s believed that the hip issue is what has kept Odegaard out of international duty, although he’s expected to be back against Brentford in Arsenal’s next fixture on November 25.
Mikel Arteta earlier stated that the star midfielder was in contention to face Burnley, saying: “A few are still in contention.
“We need to give them 24 more hours to give them a chance to be involved in the game, but we won’t know anything until tomorrow.
“Odegaard is still in a race against the clock.” Let’s see, he’s giving it his best shot. It’s conceivable.
During the two-week international break, Thomas Partey, Ben White, Cedric Soares, Gabriel Jesus, and Emile Smith Rowe are among the players with injuries that Arteta will be hoping can heal.
