Leeds United make early contact over Anselmo Garcia deal – sources

Leeds United have made early contact over a potential deal for PEC Zwolle star Anselmo Garcia, sources have told Football Insider.

The west Yorkshire club are assessing the left-back market and are interested in bringing Garcia, 21, to Elland Road.

Football Insider recently revealed (July 19) that current Leeds left-back Junior Firpo, 27, is in talks with Spanish club Real Betis.

Betis have already signed two Leeds United players this summer after completing deals for Diego Llorente and Marc Roca.

Leeds are open to selling the Dominica Republic international once they find an adequate replacement and the club see the PEC Zwolle defender as that.

Leeds need Anselmo Garcia to boost defensive numbers

A number of players have left Leeds after they failed to secure promotion back to the Premier League and the club are now seriously lacking in numbers.

Firpo is Leeds’ only first-team left-back and is highly regarded at the club after a tough start to his career in England.

21-year-old Garcia has a similar kind of profile to Firpo, capable of offering an attacking outlet but is more solid defensively, occasionally being deployed as a centre-back.

With two goals and two assists in 32 appearances in his first season at PEC Zwolle, Garcia has bags of potential.

Firpo isn’t the only potential exit at Elland Road. Football Insider revealed (July 16) that Wilfried Gnonto has given Everton the green light ahead of a potential move to Merseyside.

In other news, Everton could sign an ex-Leeds United player in a cut-price deal.
