The primary focus of John Calipari and the Arkansas coaching staff of late has been on the 2025 recruiting class, but it’s never too early to look ahead to 2026 and beyond. On Monday night, one of the state’s top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, JJ Andrews, revealed he was re-offered by Calipari and the Razorbacks.

According to his post on X (formerly Twitter), Andrews had a conversation with Calipari and assistant coach Chin Coleman on Monday night before announcing the scholarship offer. The news should come as no surprise since Andrews has been on an absolute tear this summer, most recently at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam.

Playing for Brad Beal Elite at the U16 level, Andrews led his team to a 7-0 record and Peach Jam championship. During the run, Andrews averaged 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He also made 65.8% of his attempts from the field and shot 31.3% from three.

247Sports currently has Andrews rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 33 overall prospect in the cycle. According to the industry-generated composite rankings, Andrews is a composite five-star and the No. 18 overall player currently.

 

Andrews already held a scholarship offer from Arkansas, but it came under Eric Musselman and the previous Arkansas coaching staff. They officially extended an offer back on May 21 of last year. Andrews is now the first player in the 2026 recruiting class to report an offer from Calipari since the Razorbacks head coach was hired in April.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Little Rock native is also an Arkansas legacy recruit. His father, Shawn Andrews, was an offensive lineman for the Razorbacks football team from 2001-2003 before enjoying a seven-year NFL career.

At his size, Andrews looks every part of a high-level college player. He has all of the physical tools to become one of the most versatile prospects in the entire 2026 recruiting cycle as he continues to improve and develop as a playmaker and shot creator.

Arkansas is going to be a contender for Andrews, but there will plenty of other top suitors. So far, LSU, Marquette, Missouri, NC State, Oklahoma and Ole Miss are the other schools to have extended an official offer to the talented in-state wing. Expect many more top programs to be involved in his recruitment as it’s still extremely early in the process for 2026 prospects.
