Auburn Football may have the next Lamar Jackson committing soon

Current Notre Dame quarterback commit, Deuce Knight is drawing comparisons to Lamar Jackson and could flip to the Auburn Tigers soon.
Lipscomb's Deuce Knight (2) directs his teammates against IMG at Lipscomb's Reese Smith Football Field in Nashville, Tenn., Friday night, Aug. 18, 2023. IMG went on to win the game 35-10.

Lamar Jackson was one of the most dynamic quarterbacks of all time in college football, and his success has continued in the NFL with an MVP award for the 2023 season. In college, Jackson won the Heisman Trophy for the Louisville Cardinals in 2016.

What were Lamar Jackson’s college stats?

Jackson’s dual threat ability is what made him special in college, and continues to be in the NFL. During his Heisman season in 2016, Jackson threw for 3,543 yards and 30 touchdowns. He ran for another 1,571 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Former Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick even compared Jackson to himself, but stated that he was better than he was when Jackson was in college.

While both Vick and Jackson were in their own league and we thought we would never see that type of quarterback play again, it may be on its way as four-star 2025 high school prospect, Deuce Knight has been opening eyes.

Where is Deuce Knight going to play college football?

Knight committed to Notre Dame and head coach Marcus Freeman back in September 2023 but is rumored to potentially be flipping to the Auburn Tigers. With the surge over the last month or so that Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze has had in recruiting, this should not come as a shock as freeze has elevated the Tigers to the sixth ranked class in the country for 2025 according to On3.

The only missing piece for the Tigers for their class seemingly is a quarterback, and Knight would complete that puzzle.

What are Deuce Knight’s high school stats?

Knight has been starting for George County High School in Lucedale, Mississippi since his sophomore season and is entering his final one as a senior in 2024. During his first two years, Knight has thrown for 3,536 yards and 26 touchdowns. He has ran for another 832 yards and 22 touchdowns.

While is it high school and not college, these numbers and the style of play between Jackson and Knight are eerily similar and would be electric to see in the SEC if Knight indeed did flip to the Tigers.
