Boston Celtics Sign Former Miami Hurricanes Superstar
Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics added yet another scoring outlet and talented guard to their roster after agreeing to a deal with former Miami Hurricanes superstar.
The Celtics are currently coming off their 18th NBA championship after running through the eastern conference and defeating the Dallas Mavericks in five games.
However, they are on their way to some intensive luxury tax penalties, yet still retained nearly the bulk of their roster from last season.
Now, making another addition after officially signing former Hurricanes star Lonnie Walker IV to a one-year deal for the 2024-25 season Free agent G Lonnie Walker IV has agreed on a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics, his agent George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group tells ESPN. Walker IV averaged 9.7 points and shot 38% on three-pointers in 58 games for Brooklyn last season.
Walker was drafted in the first round of the 2018 by the San Antonio Spurs and spent five seasons there. Since then, he has signed his third consecutive one-year deal with a different team.
In 2022 he averaged 11.7 points for the Los Angeles Lakers, and then last season he averaged 9.7 points and 2.2 rebounds for the Brooklyn Nets.
In 322 career games, Walker has averaged 20.3 minutes, 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. He’ll have to work his way into the Celtics rotation, but his athletic frame and ability to score from all three levels in bunches will allow him the opportunity to do so.
