The Texas Longhorns went from having two of the most dominant quarterbacks in college football history in, Vince Young and Colt McCoy, to going about a decade without stability at the position.

Now, with Steve Sarkisian at the helm, it appears that quarterback play will never be an issue again. With the Texas football program firing on all cylinders, as they hold the No. 1 ranking in college football and also have the best odds to win the title according to ESPN’s FPI, the quarterback position that was once a disaster is a gold mine. Leading the charge is projected first-round pick Quinn Ewers, who appears to be well on his way to a career year despite missing a couple of games due to injury.

Those two games he was out allowed fellow blue-chipper Arch Manning to get some shine, and he took advantage. The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning played so well that he began generating Heisman buzz.

Sarkisian has proven he can recruit and develop with the best of them, and he’s got more talent on the way.

The Longhorns have four-star KJ Lacey in their 2025 class, and they also have five-star Dia Bell headlining their 2026 class. Both quarterbacks took to social media on Wednesday to announce that they’d be in attendance at Texas’ game against No. 5 Georgia.

While Lacey will be on campus before Bell, the American Heritage (FL) product, who is the son of former NBA star Raja Bell, ranks as the No. 10 player in the class and is clearly one of the biggest names in recruiting who is on the road this weekend.

Bell has been on varsity in both football and basketball since he was in eighth grade, and is putting up monster numbers. He has thrown for over 1,600 yards, along with 20 touchdowns this season. He’s also shown off the ability to make plays with his legs, rushing for over 230 yards and a couple of scores on the ground.

Both he and Lacey will have great seats and a chance to see up close and personal what standard they will be hoping to maintain once they get to the 40 acres.
