Netflix has officially announced the release date of its highly anticipated documentary centered on Andrew Hozier-Byrne, the Irish singer-songwriter widely known as Hozier. The documentary, titled “Unheard: The Hozier Journey”, is scheduled to premiere globally on July 12, 2025, and promises to give fans a raw, intimate look into the life, music, and soul of one of this generation’s most poetic musicians.
Best known for his 2013 breakout hit “Take Me to Church,” Hozier has since carved a unique space in the modern music landscape with his rich blend of blues, folk, gospel, and rock influences. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Aoife McArdle, the Netflix documentary will chronicle Hozier’s rise from humble beginnings in County Wicklow to becoming an international music icon with a deeply loyal following.
According to Netflix’s press release, “Unheard” will feature never-before-seen backstage footage, exclusive interviews with collaborators and family members, and personal reflections from Hozier himself. The documentary will also explore the creative process behind his recent album “Unreal Unearth,” along with the socio-political themes that often underpin his lyrics, such as love, activism, and spirituality.
Fans can expect intimate moments capturing the artist’s writing sessions, life on tour, and time spent in solitude—a holistic portrait of a man who has always remained somewhat elusive despite his global fame.
Music critics and fans alike are already buzzing with excitement about the release. The documentary is expected to resonate not just with longtime Hozier fans but also with viewers who appreciate thoughtful, lyrical storytelling through music.
Netflix subscribers will be able to stream “Unheard: The Hozier Journey” starting July 12, 2025, making it one of the must-watch music documentaries of the year.
