Pop singer Taylor Swift attended the Buffalo Bills game at Arrowhead Stadium, and tight end Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs threw her a surprise birthday celebration.
NFL player Travis Kelce has organized a surprise birthday celebration for his pop superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift, but he has chosen not to take the plane to New York on his day off.
After Swift’s private plane was seen taking off from Kansas City, where she had been attending the Chiefs’ game versus the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs is planning the celebration. Swift, who was declared the winner this year, did not appear at the TIME Person of the Year dinner, despite rumors that she was returning to New York for the occasion.
Now, rumors suggest that Kelce may be planning a surprise event for her. According to The Daily Mail, the All-Pro player has planned a celebration for Swift after he finishes Chiefs practice
There’s even talk that Kelce might pop the question to Swift amidst their fast-paced romance. After the Chiefs’ 20-17 defeat to the Bills, the lovebirds were snapped cuddling and Swift was seen planting a kiss on Kelce’s cheek at an afterparty.
Kelce usually spends his NFL off-days recording his ‘New Heights’ podcast with his brother Jason, so it perhaps makes sense that he didn’t accompany Swift back to New York. The pair have been spotted in the Big Apple before, even making an unexpected appearance on Saturday Night Live and dining at the Waverley Inn last October.
In her recent chat with TIME, Swift gave us a peek into her relationship with Kelce. She expressed her confusion over how NFL broadcasts always seem to know where she is, saying: “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” and “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”
She also joked about possibly annoying some viewers, stating: “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and p****** off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Swift also expressed her enthusiasm for sports, saying, “It turns out that football is awesome.” All my life, I’ve been missing out.”
Following the Sunday Bills game at Arrowhead Stadium, Kelce and Swift were completely destroyed. The 34-year-old made an incredible, on-the-spot lateral pass to Kadarius Toney after collecting a ball from Patrick Mahomes, and Toney raced into the end zone to score the game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Sadly, Toney neglected to confirm his location with officials, and the spectacular play was heartbreakingly disqualified for offside. The Chiefs thus dropped to 8-5 on the season, with the Denver Broncos now standing just one game ahead of them in the AFC West.
The Chiefs have now dropped their past two games while Swift was on the sidelines after they were defeated by the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field last week. Week 15 will see the Chiefs play the 3-10 New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.
