Update: Willie Peters confirms the date of Jesse Sue’s surgery and the return of the Hull KR enforcer.

In advance of the 2024 season, Sue has just got a surgery which is sure to recover before the pre season games.

In an update to Hull Live regarding prop forward Sauaso “Jesse” Sue’s health, Hull KR head coach Willie Peters disclosed that the Samoan international had hamstring surgery after the season.

Sue was a key member of the team in the early going of the 2023 season, even though she was only able to make 15 appearances. However, Sue missed more than three months of play in the middle of the season due to an aggravating hamstring injury that he first sustained at Magic Weekend. He was also injured for the Super League semifinal loss to the Wigan Warriors.

However, the 31-year-old is now on the road to recovery, and Peters anticipates his return to full fitness and training around the team’s warm weather camp in Tenerife scheduled for December. A positive, timely development, considering Sue’s leadership role in the forward pack and the fact he can get almost a full pre-season under his belt.

With Rovers preparing for the 2024 season, Sue will be a member of a revitalized forward lineup. Promising back-rower AJ Wallace has joined the team, and former Wakefield Trinity teammates Jai Whitbread and Kelepi Tanginoa have also been added. Sue won’t be joining the team for a few weeks, so the Robins will resume training on November 27.
