Brundle worries We’re going to cancel ANOTHER GP session in Las Vegas.

Following the 10-minute suspension of the Formula 1 session at the Las Vegas Grand Prix due to safety concerns, Martin Brundle does not anticipate any more Formula 1 action on Friday.

Drama in “Sin City” is always to be expected, but few anticipated it to take the shape of a practice session being called off due to concerns about the street circuit’s safety.

In the opening moments of Formula One, Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari came to a stop after it appears to have struck a drain cover. This resulted in the first yellow flag being raised, then a red flag, and finally the session being called off completely.

Stewards stopped the session from continuing even though there were forty minutes remaining because they needed to find a solution before FP2.

Brundle: That’s it for today

However, Sky Sports F1 pundit Brundle does not expect to see the cars back out on track for the second practice session.

“That’s it. That’s it for today I think, from my experience.

“Fixing that, checking everything else that’s out there and fixing that and letting it dry and making sure it won’t come out again, is a big job.

“Then, theatrically they’re going to open the strip as soon as the F1 is finished, if that’s on the strip. I believe it is, isn’t it? On the way down to turn 14. That’s a very, very big issue, if they are other areas like that like around the track.

“As I mentioned, it will manifest itself initially at the highest speed when the car is operating at its lowest, when the aerodynamics are compressed. However, they will need to examine all other areas as well, due to the Venturi beneath the vehicle.”
