For Lewis Hamilton to finish second in the Drivers’ Championship, he needs to overcome Sergio Perez’s 32-point lead.

In an attempt to move the Drivers’ Championship battle for second place to Abu Dhabi, Lewis Hamilton has humorously warned Sergio Perez that he is “coming” for him this weekend at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Perez will probably finish second this weekend in the standings barring a truly unexpected event. With just 52 points up for grabs, he leads Hamilton by 32 points.

Hamilton will probably need to win in Las Vegas or Abu Dhabi in addition to another high-point scoring finish in order to take P2 from the Red Bull driver.

Even if he manages this, Perez just needs two good results to complete Red Bull’s first ever 1-2 in the Drivers’ Championship.

Many had Hamilton as the favorite to close the gap with the Mexican driver and finish in second place, but his P8 in the Brazilian Grand Prix severely hurts his chances.

Given that Max Verstappen won in Abu Dhabi the previous year, Red Bull is probably going to be strong there. As a result, Hamilton needs Perez to struggle this weekend.

Since this is a brand-new circuit, it is unclear who will be in charge when things in Sin City get going.

Since it will be very difficult to generate tire heat, the cold weather will also be a significant factor.

This weekend is the most likely time for Perez to make a mistake if there is one before the season ends.

“I’m heading your way!” According to the official Formula One website, Hamilton made a lighthearted comment to Perez, who was seated next to him, during the pre-weekend press conference.

Hamilton then became serious and openly admitted that there was no fight for second, as Perez is “too far away now”.

To be honest, he’s too far away right now. He would basically need two disasters for me to finish second and gain 30 points in two races. To be honest, though, I don’t think it matters if we come in second or third.

“Considering the car we’ve had, I believe we’ve still had an incredible year. We never imagined that we would be vying for second place in the constructors’ championship and vying to be the most dominant car of our time.
