Breaking News: Alpine has just confirmed who will finish the driver lineup in 2024

It has been confirmed that one of Alpine’s six drivers, Mercedes reserve driver Mike Schumacher, will compete in the world endurance championship in 2024.

After leaving the Haas’ Formula 1 team at the end of the 2022 season, the 24-years old has been searching for a full-time raceing seat.

The team has confirmed that he will drive alongside french drivers Nicholas Lapierre, Matthieu Vaxiviere, Charles Milesi, and Paul-Loup Chatin as well as Austrian Ferdinand.

Mercedes have also reassured fans that the young German will keep his reserve driver role with the team, alongside his stint in the WEC.

Schumacher at Alpine

Although Schumacher would have preferred a way back onto the formula 1 grid, throughout the 2023 season, opportunities seemed to come and go.

The only team that doesn’t have a completed driver line-up for 2024 is Williams, but it’s looking more and more likely that Logan Sargeant will be given one more season to showcase his talents.

Schumacher was later given the opportunity to either move on to another series or continue working as a reserve driver at the Mercedes, where he had stated  that he has enjoyed learning from drivers like Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

Now, the 2020 F2 champion appears to have cemented down both options.

“A new chapter is beginning for me with Alpine in the FIA WEC Hypercar category,” Schumacher told Alpine’s official website.

I’ve grown up with single seaters , so driving a car with a closed cockpit and covered wheels is a great opportunity to hone my driving skills. The car is impressive and I can’t wait to get started.

“It was sometimes hard to watch the other drivers take the track, racing is what I have loved to do since I was a kid, and I solely missed it this year.

Endurance racing is a new challenge for me, and I’m sure we will share great moment together with Alpine next year”
