Revealed: Nico Rosberg explains Issues facing Mercedes and its key man to win the 2024 F1 title.

Nico Rosberg has explained the ‘problem’ currently facing Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes as they attempt to beat Max Verstappen and Red Bull to the Formula 1 drivers’ title in 2024.

2023 saw a Red Bull rout as Verstappen won his third consecutive drivers’ championship by eluding the grid. In the 21 Grands Prix this year, the 26-year-old has won eighteen of them. In addition, he has triumphed in 16 of the previous 17, including the last six, during a run that began in May.

Red Bull, who have dominated this season, will be looking to start 2024 strong. Winning the drivers’ and constructors’ crowns early will have given the Milton Keynes outfit an early advantage against Mercedes and Hamilton in developing their new chassis.

Hamilton has now failed to win in 44 consecutive F1 Grand Prix

Mercedes is still catching up to Red Bull after starting the latest ground effect era in Formula 1 in 2022 with the wrong idea. In the end, the Silver Arrows decided against using sidepods this season. However, their concept shift came too late to help Hamilton win the title.

Hamilton is currently going through the worst—and only really significant—winless streak of his Formula One career. Before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the 38-year-old had at least one victory in each of his first 15 seasons as a Formula 1 driver. However, he now faces two consecutive campaigns without a victory.

The native of Stevenage’s last Grand Prix victory occurred in December 2021 when Hamilton defeated Verstappen to win the Saudi Arabian GP. Since then, he has been unable to finish first in 44 races and has received P2 finishes when a victory was conceivable, the most recent of which occurred in the 2023 United States GP.

Rosberg addresses Hamilton and Mercedes’ 2024 title chances

The floor of Hamilton’s Mercedes was eventually found to have worn excessively by the FIA stewards, who ultimately disqualified him from his P2 for the 2023 United States Grand Prix. However, Hamilton’s 2016 title rival, Nico Rosberg, feels that the Silver Arrows’ performance at COTA should motivate the team ahead of the upcoming season. Rosberg saw potential for Mercedes and Hamilton to be optimistic about their 2024 F1 title chances at COTA. However, the 2016 champion feels the Silver Arrows must “still” overcome a lack of consistency in order to give Hamilton a car capable of winning his record eighth drivers’ crown.

Rosberg told the Daily Mail, “We’ve seen flashes of brilliance from the Mercedes team just recently.” “They are not consistent. However, observe Austin. They had the fastest car for the entire weekend and were fighting for the victory there.

“So, we’ve seen that they’re starting to understand the car and they just have the problem that you still lack consistency. They still lack in straight line performance but they are starting to understand all that.

Hamilton may so have the opportunity to compete for the title again the following year.
