Sad News: The Packers aren’t as fortunate as the Lions, who had only one player ruled out for Thanksgiving.

The Detroit Lions announced on Wednesday that former Pro Bowl guard player has been declared out for the Thanksgiving game against Green Bay.

Colby Sorsdal seems to be on his way to another start at Allen Park.

A former Pro Bowl guard, Jonah Jackson will not play for the Detroit Lions against Green Bay on Thanksgiving, the team said on Wednesday. Jackson has missed four of the previous five games due to injuries to his ankle and wrist, respectively.

Because of this, Sorsdal—a fifth-round selection out of William & Mary—had to start the game in an emergency situation during the weekend’s victory against Chicago. Although there were some early challenges, the young player picked up the pace and finished with 40 pass blocks, four pressures, and no sacks.

Head coach Dan Campbell responded, “Yeah, look, some good and then some that wasn’t as good as you would like.” However, it was his first time starting at left guard, and like I’ve said before, it’s not too large for him. I believed he had a fight in there. I am aware that he played well toward the end of the game, as did all of the offensive players. In the final four minutes of the game, we played some of our best football of the whole season. They simply performed exceptionally well, (Sorsdal) truly did step up. A rookie playing left guard for the first time has a lot of pressure when games are on the line, but he performed admirably. Well, that’s a starting point for that side. We think that with more repetitions, he will improve. We think he’ll keep developing. Thus, everything is well.

Quinton Bohanna, a defensive lineman, and Michael Schofield, an offensive lineman, were also promoted by the Lions from the practice squad. But that’s all they have to say about the injury report.

Not so lucky for the Packers, who also placed tight end Luke Musgrave and running back Emanuel Wilson on injured reserve. Out of the picture are safety Darnell Savage (calf) and running back Aaron Jones (knee). Josiah Deguara, a tight end, is questionable due to a hip injury. Other injuries that are questionable include those of linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (neck), running back AJ Dillon (groin), safety Rudy Ford (biceps), and receiver Dontayvion Wicks (knee/concussion).

They promoted fullback Henry Pearson and safety Benny Sapp III from the practice squad, added receiver Bo Melton and running back James Robinson, and made other roster adjustments to make up for the injuries.
