Shocking: Hamilton Red Bull ‘ENQUIRY’ exposed amid Mercedes contract issue

Before the British driver signed his record-breaking contract to continue at Mercedes, Red Bull team president Christian Horner said that a representative of Lewis Hamilton had contacted the company about a possible partnership with Max Verstappen early this year.

Horner’s remarks follow Hamilton’s admission that in October, talks were held over a possible move to Ferrari.

The seven-time world champion, has clarified that these were merely “irrelevant conversations” that he had before promising the Silver Arrows his long-term future.

Horner: Hamilton team reached out a few times

It is now claimed that an incredible transfer to Red Bull, where Hamilton would have teamed up with his on-track rival, three-time world champion Verstappen, may also have been in the works.

“Over the years, we’ve had multiple discussions regarding Lewis joining,” Horner disclosed to the Daily Mail.

“They have reached out a few times. Most recently, earlier in the year, there was an inquiry about whether there would be any interest.

“He met John Elkann (FerrariĀ chairman), too. I think there were serious talks.

It happened near Monaco in May. There were undoubtedly discussions, possibly even with Vasseur. But in any case, with Elkann.

However, I don’t see Max and Lewis exercising together. It wouldn’t be the correct dynamic. With what we have, we couldn’t be happier.”

Following extensive negotiations and a strong rumor mill, Hamilton and George Russell agreed to a contract that will keep them as Mercedes’ driver duo through 2025.
