Interesting Update: Following the F1 season finale, Lewis Hamilton makes a “concerning” remark on Max Verstappen’s supremacy.

Sir Lewis Hamilton acknowledges that he is unsure if Mercedes and he can challenge Red Bull and Max Verstappen for the Formula One championship in the upcoming season.

With ease, Verstappen won the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, setting a new record with his 19th victory of 2023.

From pole position, nobody could catch up to the three-time winner, who finished about eighteen seconds ahead of second place finisher Charles Leclerc, completing the most successful season in history.

Even though competitors were improving and developing their cars, the RB19 led the field at the beginning of the season and held that lead the entire season, winning 21 of 22 races.

Of course, 2024 will be different, and enthusiasts and drivers alike will be hoping for a more open and competitive race for the championship.

However, Hamilton didn’t seem optimistic that his team would be able to close the distance over the Christmas break as he trundled home to ninth place at Yas Marina.

The seven-time champion said flatly, “Not particularly,” when asked if he felt any joy from Mercedes finishing second in the constructors’ championship ahead of Ferrari.

Despite finishing third and best of the rest in the standings, the British driver acknowledged he was happy to just “survive” another difficult season. He hasn’t experienced victory since the end of the 2021 campaign.

When asked what lessons he could learn from 2023, he said, “Not too many.” In general, this year hasn’t been very good. The fact that I made it through. I think that’s the main thing.

He grimly continued, “At this moment, I don’t really know” when asked if Mercedes may pose a threat to Red Bull in 2024. It is concerning that Red Bull won by eighteen seconds considering they haven’t improved their vehicle since August.

We now know a great deal about the vehicle, so it’s all up to the team. They are aware of what must be done. We shall see if we make it there or not.

Let’s face it, Red Bull has a lead since they adapted to the new rules quickly, and it will take a tremendous amount of work to catch up. Hopefully, they will slow down and let us catch up with their growth and pace. CEO of Mercedes Toto Wolff continued.

“We have a basic issue with our [2023] car; it’s not stable, and the drivers don’t trust it. If we can solve that, we can advance like other teams have.”
