New Signing: Miami Dolphins to sign All-Pro Rusher after Jaelan Phillips injury.

With one of the best offenses in the league and a young talented defense, the Miami Dolphins are undoubtedly a Super Bowl contender this year

However, their chances of winning the championship were hampered during their 34-13 victory over the Jets on Black Friday when star wide receiver Jaelan Phillips appeared to have suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.

Since the trade deadline has long since passed and there aren’t many ways for a team to add a different maker at a position as important as edge, there’s no sugarcoating and injury like that at this point of the season.

But, the Dolphins are going to try to get some production from a move to address the injury situation. And, they did that on Monday, as they’re expected to sign former All-Pro Jason Pierre-Paul.

The defensive end announced the news via an Instagram post Monday evening.

Players can be signed off of other teams’ practice squads.

Pierre-Paul was a free agent for the majority of this year, but he was signed to the New Orleans Saints s practice squad in mid November.

He made his team debut on Sunday and had one solo tackle before being placed back on the practice squad.

Many of you might think that Jason Pierre-Paul is washed. And, he very well may be. But, it wasn’t that long ago when he was a massive part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl-winning team back in the 2020 NFL season. That year, he had 9.5 sacks, and two more in the postseason.

Again, The Dolphins have few options here and are hoping that Pierre-Paul who has 94.5 sacks in his career, just 41 players have ever reached 100 sacks can regain some of the form that has helped him make three pro Bowls, One All-Pro team, and win two Super Bowls.

However in 2021 and 2022, Pierre-Paul had just 5.5 total sacks in 26 games

Far below the level of production needed from a pass-rush specialist

This weekend, the Dolphins (8-3) visit the commanders; If he can recover quickly enough, he will have a chance to add to his total of sacks against one of the NFL’s most sack-prone teams.
