The Phoenix Suns seems to be withdrawing themselves from the rest of the League.

The Phoenix Suns, who have won seven straight games are currently 11-6

They most recently defeated the New York Knicks,116-113 on Sunday, thanks to a game winning three-pointer from Devin Booker.

The Depth

One of the main concerns surrounding the Sun’s heading into the season was weather or not they had enough depth behind the big three.

This has been put to the test significantly as Devin Booker has been sidelined for much of the season due to various injuries, Bradley Beal has only appeared in three games due to back problems, none of which have occurred during this winning streak, and Kevin Durant has missed the last two games due to foot soreness.

Eric Gordon has stepped up in a major way over the last seven games in the absence of Beal and Durant. Gordon has averaged 16.7 points per game, shot 50% from the floor, and 46% from behind the three point line.

In six of those games Grayson Allen has contributed significantly and shot 53% from the field and 45% from three.
Allen averaged 11.5 points per game during those six games

The role players have stepped up in many ways, Jusuf Nurkic had double digit rebounds in four of the seven wins. The defense from players like Keita Bates-Diop and Jordan Goodwin has also been huge

While there is still a lot of basketball to be played, the Suns’star players are playing exceptionally well, so the answer to the question of whether or not they have enough depth is a resounding YES! Things are looking up for the Phoenix.

The Best Duo In The NBA

During this winning run,Kevin Durant and Devin Booker have both been exceptional. during the first five games of the run,Durant averaged 34.2 points,7.2 assist, and seven rebounds per game while shooting 68% from three point range and 60% from the field

It is very hard for opposing teams to slow a team down when a star is shooting the ball at this level. The big issue for teams that are going against the Suns is that it’s not just Durant. That guy named Devin Booker is pretty good too.

With a win streak that has seen him shoot 47.5% from the field and 38% from three, Booker has averaged 33.4 points and 8.4 assist per game, earning him the title of Western Conference Player of the Week.

They Are On Fire!

During this winning streak, The Phoenix Suns have been a real offensive force, averaging 124.7 points per game, good for second place in the NBA in points per game.

The Suns have shot the ball with tremendous efficiency during the win streak as well. Phoenix has shot 51.4% from the floor and 43.9% from three point range. This would put the Suns at the top of the league in each category. What happens when the hot shooting stops?

The Concern

In fairness to the Suns, one of those games ended in double overtime, and in that game, they allowed 137 points to the Utah Jazz.

Nevertheless,Phoenix has allowed 114.8 points per game during this run, which would rank them 21st in the NBA.

On the flip side they also played against one of the worst offensive teams in the league during this streak. Phoenix only gave up 89 points to the Memphis Grizzlies, who are 29th in point scored per game.

This has to be a concern for the Suns going forward as shooting will go up and down throughout the season. Especially for a team that depends on the mid-range jumper as much as Phoenix does.

The Suns’ current winning streak demonstrates what they can do when things are going well, but it also highlights areas that still need work, mostly notably defense on those nights when shots don’t fall.
