F1 Update: Max Verstappen is urged by Martin Brundle to exhibit “a little more diplomacy.”

This season, Max Verstappen hasn’t hesitated to voice his opinions on any subject.

Max Verstappen has been asked by former Formula 1 driver and current pundit Martin Brundle to display a “little more diplomacy” in order to enhance his “legacy.”

It’s no secret that Verstappen doesn’t hesitate to express his opinions, even though doing so has frequently backfired.

Verstappen harshly criticized the event and said it was “99% show, 1% sporting event” prior to the most recent Las Vegas Grand Prix, which was sponsored by the sport itself.

Because he is the current World Champion, his father spoke to him in Sin City and advised him to watch what he says because it could hurt the championship.

Although Brundle finds the 26-year-old’s opinions to be “very refreshing,” he may need to moderate them a little in order to preserve the “legacy he will leave.”

In his Sky Sports column, Brundle stated, “[Verstappen] had a very vocal downer on Las Vegas, which didn’t make a whole lot of sense to express in that way, although he warmed up to the event on race day after yet another victory.”

“I find Max to be quite refreshing to interview and to just talk to on the paddock. I enjoy that he speaks his mind. He’s very straightforward and honest; you get what you see, and it’s obvious that he doesn’t give a damn what other people think.

“I can’t help but feel that a little more diplomacy and balance would be more fitting to the legacy he will leave, and after all, we are all only guardians of this great sport as we pass through.”

Verstappen is frequently the target of jeers, whether or not it is related to his personal opinions. The season finale in Abu Dhabi was no exception.

During the annual season-ending group photo at the Yas Marina Circuit, Verstappen was heckled by the assembled audience

It appears as though the three-time World Champion has gained a “villian” status, which Brundle finds incomprehensible.

“Max didn’t get everything right. We’ve heard some boos at some other tracks too. For instance, when the drivers walked out to the grid for the customary end-of-season group photo, there were some as he emerged,” Brundle continued.
