Nebraska football’s starting quarterback at the start of the season, Jeff Sims, is now anticipated to use the transfer portal.

Though the Nebraska football team’s first year under Matt Rhule in Lincoln wasn’t fantastic, the fan base is still optimistic. This season, the Cornhuskers had a strong run of five straight victories. thus lost all six of the other games on their schedule, though, and thus were unable to participate in a bowl game. Nebraska suffered a number of hard, tight losses, with the first game against Minnesota possibly being the toughest. In that game, Jeff Sims, a transfer from Georgia Tech, was starting at quarterback for the Cornhuskers. Sims is currently using the portal once more to depart Nebraska.

Jeff Sims was the starting QB for the Nebraska football team at beginning of the season, but his starting job didn’t last long. He will not be returning to Lincoln next season as he is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to a tweet from Chris Hummer.

For Sims, it was a difficult season with the Cornhuskers. With 282 yards, one touchdown, and six interceptions through the air, he concluded the season with a 28-47 record. During the season, he also lost four fumbles. Sims led the FBS in turnovers at Georgia Tech the year before, so there was some concern about his turnover rate when he arrived at Nebraska. This season, that problem beset him once more.

Despite his struggles with the turnover bug, Sims has a reasonable chance of receiving some attention through the portal. He has a lot of potential, especially with his legs, as the Nebraska quarterback has demonstrated in his brief time on the field this year; he just needs to be more cautious with the ball. Sims has the potential to be a respectable quarterback if he can manage his turnover issue.
