Will the Giants roll with Jones or draft a QB next season? Questions Surrounding The Return Of Jones, And This Is What The Giants Recruitment Team Have To Say….

Daniel Jones of the Giants hopes to return by the beginning of training camp.

Daniel Jones, the quarterback for the New York Giants, has given himself a deadline to heal from his ruptured ACL, hoping to be back on the field for training camp.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Jones made this statement on Wednesday at the USA Football Heart of a Giant presentation: “I only needed surgery on my ACL; I didn’t have any damage to other parts of my knee.”

“It’s definitely the goal to get back by training camp,” said Jones via Raanan

2023 was not the season Daniel Jones expected to have

For Jones, that was not the ideal start to a hefty four-year/$160 million contract extension. In addition to his poor quarterback performance, Jones also sustained a neck ailment that sidelined him for three games, and he tore his ACL just over half way through his return.

On the season, he threw just two touchdown passes and his six interceptions were more than he had all of last season.

Tommy DeVito has shined as his replacement

The Giants have enjoyed having Tommy DeVito fill in for Jones during his temporary absence. During his previous three starts, DeVito’s passer rating has been 102.7, and he has thrown seven touchdown passes this season.

Despite backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor’s comeback from a rib injury, he will be starting quarterback for their next Monday Night Football game against the Packers as a reward for his heroic efforts.

Will the Giants roll with Jones or draft a quarterback next season?

Thanks in large part to Jones’ injury, there is still some uncertainty about the Giants’ quarterback position going forward. Caleb Williams of USC and Drake Maye of UNC are two outstanding quarterback prospects who could be available if New York is selected in the top three of the draft the following year.

However, it’s encouraging to see Jones starting the healing process with hopes of getting back on the field for Week 1 of the upcoming season.
