football linebacker for Oklahoma Following his decision to forego the 2024 NFL Draft, Danny Stutsman has returned to the program for a one-year period.

Now is the moment when players are choosing to increase their stock by playing one more season of college football or by entering the NFL Draft. Oklahoma Sooners linebacker Danny Stutsman was one athlete whose choice was unclear.

But on Monday, Stutsman made it clear that he intended to play one more year for the Oklahoma football team, effectively putting an end to any talk about the NFL Draft. He made this announcement on X.

In 2023, the junior linebacker for the Oklahoma football team was spectacular. Following 51 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions in 2022, he recorded 47 solo tackles, three sacks, and one interception in 2023.

Texas player Xavier Worthy amusedly clapped back at Stutsman after Oklahoma defeated Texas, the Longhorns’ lone setback of the season. Stutsman and other players went viral for wearing shirts that stated the Longhorns dreaded the Sooners.

A few players have already left the Oklahoma football program via the transfer portal; quarterback Dillon Gabriel is the most notable departure, having declared his intention to attend Oregon.

The Sooners are headed to the new-look SEC in 2024 along with Texas, so the Red River Rivalry continues for the two programs. The Longhorns made the College Football Playoff after winning the Big 12, and Oklahoma’s win over the Longhorns will be remembered for some time.

Danny Stutsman’s return as one of the defensive pillars is a huge step in the right direction, but Brent Venables and the Oklahoma football team will still need to find a new quarterback and some other weapons.
