“I enjoy being in this city and playing for this organization.”

Was Sunday lunchtime déjà vu for anyone else?

AJ McCarron was back in action for the Cincinnati Bengals on a soggy day at Paycor Stadium.

Even though it was for just five snaps, Browning’s number was called when he had to exit the game because his throwing thumb was cramping.

When McCarron took over, he promptly hit Tee Higgins for a touchdown pass that was subsequently ruled back on the basis of a dubious—more accurately, appalling—offensive pass interference ruling.

Following the game, McCarron talked to Elise Jesse about his feelings over his return to the Jungle.

“To hear the applause and welcome from the crowd.” It’s simply unreal. It’s simply fantastic. I enjoy being in this place and playing for this organization. Recalled many wonderful memories, and I wish we could’ve had that touchdown there, McCarron remarked of Higgins’s interceptional touchdown.

Joe Burrow’s calf injury kept McCarron on the Bengals practice squad until he was signed to the active roster prior to the Jacksonville game.

Even though McCarron was in and gone quickly, it was still incredible to watch him return to the Jungle as a Bengals fan for the rest of his life.
