The Cleveland Browns are trying to make their first postseason appearance since 2020, but they have a defensive problem. The team’s defeat against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday resulted in the injury of two key players, which is a setback.

Security Leading tackler for the Browns, Grant Delpit, has been missing for at least the final four games of the regular season due to a groin injury. He has been placed on injured reserve. Ogbo Okoronkwo, a defensive end who has contributed significantly with 4.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss, could miss the remainder of the season because of a pectoral ailment.

Offering a ray of optimism for the squad, coach Kevin Stefanski disclosed that Delpit, who had surgery, could be able to return for the postseason. Delpit leads the Browns with an amazing 80 tackles, and he recently signed a three-year, $36 million contract extension with $23 million guaranteed.

Season-ending injuries have plagued the Browns all season long; among those afflicted are quarterback Deshaun Watson and All-Pro running back Nick Chubb. The team revealed last week that Dawand Jones and Jedrick Wills Jr., the starting offensive tackles, will both miss the rest of the campaign because of knee injuries.

The Browns, who are now 8-5 and the No. 5 seed in the AFC wild-card race, are resolute in the face of hardship. Ahead of their Sunday game against the Chicago Bears, the team added veteran safety Duron Harmon from their practice squad to fill the vacuum left by Delpit’s absence.
