Definitely the best deal of the season, As Steelers sign Excellent LB to the squad…

The Steelers bolster their linebacker depth

Following head coach Mike Tomlin’s announcement that linebacker Elandon Roberts will be sidelined for the Steelers’ Week 17 game against the Seahawks, some form of action was anticipated from the team. Pittsburgh has indeed taken that action.

Jaylon Smith, a former Pro Bowler for the Cowboys, is joining the Steelers. Before suffering a devastating knee injury in the 2016 Fiesta Bowl that resulted in the tears of both his ACL and MCL, Smith was a standout player at Notre Dame. However, Smith’s star potential was too good to ignore, and the Cowboys selected him in the second round of that year’s selection.

Having missed the whole 2016 season, Smith participated in all 16 games from 2017 to 2019 and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2019. But his play became less and less. Smith was cut by the Cowboys in the midst of the 2021 campaign, following the 2019 season. After signing with the Green Bay Packers, he was cut after just two games and played for the New York Giants for the remainder of 2021 and 2022. Smith played in just one Raiders game this season before moving on to Pittsburgh.
