Just In: 1st Day Gift To The Denver Fans, As Broncos Seek The Commitment Of An Excellent QB…

With veteran Russell Wilson still embroiled in scandal, the Denver Broncos quarterback position is in turmoil. Denver acquired some resolution before the 2024 offseason by re-signing a crucial veteran, despite all the uncertainty under center.

Ben DiNucci, the backup quarterback, declared on social media that he will play for the Broncos again in 2019.

On January 8, DiNucci wrote on X, “I have signed back with the Broncos for the 2024 season.” He then joked, saying, “Source – myself.”

Nick Kosmider of The Athletic appeared to corroborate the allegation by replying to DiNucci with a brief, two-word tweet.

Under X, Kosmider responded to DiNucci’s initial post with the words “Reliable source.”

DiNucci spent the whole 2023 season with Denver’s practice squad, therefore he did not see any action on the field. Next season, the 24-year-old will have a chance to contend for a roster position.

DiNucci, who was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, has only started one game. In a 23-9 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2020 season, he made his debut.

DiNucci finished 21 of 40 passes for 180 yards and two fumbles while being sacked four times in the defeat.

Jarrett Stidham Is ‘Very Confident’ in Keeping His Role as the Broncos’ Starting QB

Whichever quarterback, DiNucci or Stidham, starts for the Broncos in the upcoming season, their respective sample sizes are small.

Following his two starts as Denver’s starter, Stidham declared he is “very confident” in maintaining his starting position.

Speaking to reporters on January 8, Stidham said, “I have no doubts that I can be the guy for us next year.” “But during this offseason, I’m going to keep working as hard as I can and learning everything I can.” I must admit that I’m thrilled about the prospect.

It was not the first time Stidham had voiced his faith in his future prospects. In Week 18, following a 27-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, Stidham was questioned by head coach Sean Payton about his level of performance.

After the defeat on January 7, Stidham remarked, “They see me every day.” They are aware of my abilities and limitations. It is my responsibility to work hard, support my teammates, and fulfill my duties.

The Broncos went 1-1 in Stidham’s two starts to close out the regular season. Stidham completed 60.6% of his passes for 496 yards and two touchdown passes, finishing with an 87.7 passer rating. He took seven sacks in those two games and was sacked five times against the Raiders.

Uncertainty at QB Biggest Unsolved Mystery After Roller Coaster 2023 Campaign

The Broncos had an 8-9 record at the end of Payton’s first season. The club had no chance of finishing with a winning record for the first time since 2016 after their loss to the Raiders.

Denver must face the music heading into the 2024 offseason with questions galore at the game’s most valuable position.

Entering his second season in Payton’s system, Stidham ought to be given a shot at the starting position. DiNucci will probably continue to be a member of the practice squad or be asked to cover for Stidham. Under Payton, he provides strong depth and some NFL starting experience.

Alternatively, the seasoned head coach can choose to pick a young gunslinger and take a completely different approach. According to Tankathon, the Broncos will select 12th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

As Payton begins his second season as head coach, there is some flexibility in what the club could accomplish.
