With Sean Payton entering his second season as head coach of the Denver Broncos in 2024, there are a lot of unanswered concerns. However, it now seems as though one of the biggest offseason shocks may be Courtland Sutton’s future with the organization.
QB Russell Wilson was benched by coach Mike Payton last season despite having signed him to a huge salary ahead of time because the starting signal caller refused to waive his hefty injury clause.
The Denver Broncos had a 1-5 start, but they really started to settle into a groove after that, winning six of their next seven games before going on a late run that ended with Wilson being benched and the team losing three of their final games in 2023.
Wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who enjoyed his greatest season since joining the team, was one of the squad’s shining spots.
This season, Sutton was without a doubt the finest offensive player for the Denver Broncos. His toe-tap touchdown versus Buffalo was spectacular.
One of the only players you could count on with this attack was Courtland Sutton, who scored spectacular touchdowns almost every week. He was the only one who could make the Broncos an ESPN highlight.
Sutton leads the AFC and is tied for third place in the NFL with his ten receiving touchdowns this season. This season, only Tyreek Hill (12) and Mike Evans (13) have caught more touchdowns. AJ Brown, Jamar Chase, Davante Adams, and Stefon Diggs were all less than a touchdown from him. With just four touchdowns against the Broncos, Brandon Johnson had the second-highest touchdown total. This year, Sutton was their entire offensive weapon. I’m hoping he can make it onto the Pro Bowl roster in the coming weeks.
Sutton, one of Denver’s offense’s primary playmakers, has one more year left on his deal.
However, the standout wide receiver hinted on Friday that he might be leaving the Broncos this offseason in a shocking Instagram statement.
