Tre’von Moehrig, a safety, presents the Las Vegas Raiders with a significant offseason choice . the raiders will have to choose whether to accept Moehrig’s fifth-year option, reject it, or extend him with what should be a big-time deal when he enters the fourth year of his $7.89-million rookie contract. It would be well-earned if Las Vegas decided to foot the bill for the 24-year-old security system. This season, Moehrig had his greatest season to date, starting all 17 games and recording 83 combined tackles, one for a loss, two sacks, eight passes defensed, and three interceptions. He had two games with ten tackles.
Moehrig was selected by the Raiders in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and the team signed him to a four-year, $7.895 million contract. He would go on to start every game and contribute significantly to Las Vegas’ postseason run with a total of 55 combined tackles, six passes defensed, and one interception.
Following that successful rookie season, Moehrig’s second season got off to a rocky start as he missed Weeks 2 and 3 due to a hip ailment. In the ensuing three games, he only made one start. In the end, Moehrig recorded 55 total tackles in 2022, including two for losses and five passes defensed. We may safely assume that during the 2023 offseason, something clicked. With veteran safety Marcus Epps facing one year left on his contract after a somewhat dismal debut season with the Silver and Black, Las Vegas should do what it can to guarantee Moehrig is part of its secondary for years to come.
The NFL Scouting Combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, from February 27 to March 4, 2024. The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25–27, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
