The Denver Broncos were anticipated to be a Super Bowl contender in the AFC after acquiring superstar quarterback Russell Wilson in a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson was believed to be the final piece needed to win the championship.
Sadly, Wilson looked to lose a step or two and ceased to be the dominant player of the past, which caused Denver to have a dismal 2022 campaign finale.
Prior to the 2023 NFL season, the Broncos brought in veteran head coach Sean Payton in an attempt to provide Wilson with greater direction and leadership on the sidelines. However, Denver’s results were essentially the same, even if their winning percentage increased and their chances of making the playoffs increased.
Wilson may have had his last game in the Mile High City when Payton and company opted to bench him before he missed the playoffs. This move created quite a commotion.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler via Dov Kleiman, there have been whispers circulating about Wilson’s potential next stop in the NFL. It seems that the Minnesota Vikings might be one of those stops if veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins chooses not to re-sign with the franchise.
Wilson might find the Vikings to be an appealing option, especially with the potential the team possesses right now, particularly with superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
With a Vikings team attempting to find out how to defeat the division-rival Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers in the NFC North, Wilson may have another opportunity to revive his NFL career.
