The 2023 season of the Las Vegas Raiders may be easily separated into two sections.
First came Josh McDaniels’ 3–5 start as coach; on November 1, he and general manager Dave Ziegler were sacked. After the Raiders defeated all three of their division rivals in a four-week span, players rallied around interim coach Antonio Pierce, leading to a 5–4 finish.
Las Vegas apparently hired Pierce as its head coach on Friday in an attempt to try to emulate the latter going ahead. Maxx Crosby, the outstanding defensive end for the squad, instantly endorsed that choice.
“Let’s Work!!” an eager Crosby wrote on social media Friday afternoon.
In ’23, Crosby had yet another outstanding year, recording 14.5 sacks and setting a league record for tackles for loss for the second consecutive year. The native of Eastern Michigan was selected for the second All-Pro team and voted into the Pro Bowl.
It remains to be seen if Pierce can lead the Raiders to success and into the playoffs, something the team has only accomplished twice in the previous 20 years.
