This season, Auburn’s scoring offense was rated 74th in the country, averaging just 26.3 points per contest. That being said, there’s reason to believe that Hugh Freeze’s team will be altering scores at a higher pace going forward, especially with a recruiting class that included guys like five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman.

Coleman rose from No. 8 to No. 5 overall and No. 2 wide receiver in the final 247Sports rankings for the 2024 class. Additionally, Auburn was receiving a unique talent, according to Cooper Petagna, national recruiting analyst, on the College Football Recruiting Show.

He won’t turn eighteen until August. He may look like a puppy, but in reality, Petagna explained, he’s a mature man. This individual has doubled his output in all significant statistics categories. He can attack the football down the field, as you can see. He’s a walking contradiction. Hugh Freeze’s game on The Plains is set to change on Day One when you consider what Auburn has accomplished with their receiving corps, which includes Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson. Be careful with Cam Coleman.

Petagna contrasted Coleman with another immediate-impact SEC wideout in Coleman’s scouting report. After arriving at Georgia, George Pickens caught 49 catches for 727 yards and eight touchdowns in his rookie season. Additionally, with Coleman’s

“Estimated at six feet three inches and more than 180 pounds, he has a fit build and the ability to gain fifteen to twenty pounds on Saturdays,” Petagna wrote. “Has exceptional, verified athletic ability at the receiver position, demonstrating both outside and slot operations.”

As stated by Petagna, the receiver is “an explosive straight line receiver that demonstrates good initial quickness off the line of scrimmage and in and out of breaks at the top of the route.” Shows a strong ability to shift gears fast and reach top speed, along with good play and proven speed. As a junior, he was seen as more of a vertical danger; as a senior, he demonstrated the ability to broaden his route tree and become a much more skilled route runner.

Coleman’s ability to play basketball above the rim makes him one of the nation’s most potent jump ball threats, according to Petagna. As a senior, Coleman caught 61 passes for 1,372 yards and eighteen touchdowns after 542 yards and six touchdowns as a junior.

“With a unique combination of size, speed, and athleticism that sets him apart from the rest of his peers, he projects as an immediate contributor at the next level and a potential Day-1 NFL Draft choice,” Petagna said.

“Is in the early stages of his physical growth and on field development,” Petagna stated, “indicating he’s eighteen years of age in August of 2024.”
