One of the best recruits in the state of Alabama is being pursued by Auburn and Georgia, and there are two other standout talents at the same high school.
Hugh Freeze and his staff have eight candidates in the 2025 Tigers recruiting class. With six defensive recruits, including defensive tackle Antonio “Big Tony” Coleman from Saraland (Ala.) High School, a former Alabama commitment, this is a noteworthy group.
At least two of the fights between Freeze and his staff for the best recruits in the SEC are happening at Enterprise (Ala.) High School. Here are the remarks made by Enterprise head coach Ben Blackmon regarding his three gifted 2025 recruits today.
Now, let’s start with Zion Grady, a former Alabama pledge. He is considering a few different universities.
Regarding the college coaches who are scouting Grady, Blackmon stated, “the majority of them are coming this week and next week.” “Ole Miss has been here. Georgia arrived this morning by air. Alabama’s Auburn was one of them.Miami is visiting this area (today). Florida State, Kentucky, and Tennessee will be passing through.”
Grady is highly sought after for a reason. Despite being a gifted pass rusher, he is nonetheless slender at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds. At least for Enterprise, Blackmon anticipates him to be a walk-up outside linebacker. In addition, he thinks Grady can succeed as a pass defender in the flat rather than just a downhill pass rusher.
Blackmon is right, according to his recruiting ranking. Grady is ranked as the No. 5 player in Alabama and the No. 40 player in the country overall by Rivals.com. Grady’s choice to move on from the Tide on January 17th may take some time to come to. Blackmon claims that “he’s taking it all in,” therefore it’s difficult to predict when a decision will be made.
According to Blackmon, Eric Winters, a player who has already been featured on Auburn Daily, is most likely closer to deciding on a college.
Blackmon also raised an excellent point regarding a post at a college. It is Eric’s responsibility to decide on a career path. He is capable of playing nickel, safety, and linebacker; move him to the box to play Will. He’s basically an extremely dynamic athlete.
Winters, who is currently 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, is a national recruit due to another factor.
“Eric’s football acumen is his strongest suit. He is really intelligent. Having him in meetings when he first arrived here two years ago allowed us to know that.”
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound player is a part of the Enterprise basketball team and is capable of playing about every skill position in football.
The lowdown on recruitment is as follows. Undoubtedly, Bama is pursuing Grady, but hasn’t been as much after Winters as of late.
“It has been Georgia and Auburn. Yes, I believe it comes down to those two. Florida State is among the numerous universities that have been mentioned. These, in my opinion, are the top three. He is fond of Tennessee. He was a huge fan of Oklahoma.”
Blackmon offered his thoughts on a deadline for making a decision.
“I guess mid-spring, maybe. He spent last week at Auburn. It’s difficult because it’s basketball season for him. It appears that he intends to travel to Georgia during the first week of February. He’s probably considering Florida State as well, so I would imagine that somewhere in that springtime window—late February, early March, early April—he’ll make up his mind.”
As if Enterprise didn’t already have enough skill, cornerback Andrew Purcell is beginning to draw a lot of interest. He made the previous season’s first team all-state and has already had several offers, including one from Ole Miss. Keep that moniker in mind since Auburn and other SEC colleges might enter the competition.
