Like his uncles before him, the Papillion-La Vista tight end is proud to don the Husker uniform.

The year 2023 made the dream attainable.

He will now be able to begin living it fully in a few months. His voice resounds with his love for it.

Here, Eric Ingwerson doesn’t need to act calm. His uncles played for the Big Red. He’s been a Big Red fan since childhood. To put on the outfit by himself? Still a thought then, but a hopeful one a year ago at this time.

“My mindset a year ago was seeing what kind of offers I get and just decided from there, but my heart has always been set on Nebraska,” Ingwerson stated. “I’m a native child. For children born here, it’s different. I all, playing at Nebraska is everyone’s dream, right? Consequently, Nebraska has always been at the top.”

But initially, Ingwerson committed to the Panthers after receiving an offer from Pittsburgh. And it’s clear from listening to Ingwerson speak that he takes his commitments seriously.

But nothing matters more than family, and in the months that followed, it would undoubtedly tilt the scales toward an obvious conclusion for him. Following your heart frequently takes you close to home, as it does for most people.

Currently, Ingwerson feels that Nebraska is more of a family unity than just a football team, thus his greatest dream is to play for the Huskers.
