He still has five years and $242.5 million left on his contract, so a trade is improbable. Wilson ought to be able to sign a contract for a reasonable price if he is cut. But according to Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine, Wilson would be better served joining the Raiders this summer.
In a post published on January 25, Ballentine stated, “[The Raiders] might be tempted to sign Russell Wilson to a bounce-back contract since they’re not really in position to draft one of the top prospects this year.”
The Raiders should, meanwhile, take into account what happened when Wilson was partnered with a head coach in his first season. Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett’s partnership resulted in one of the veteran’s worst seasons.
Ballentine thinks that if Antonio Pierce didn’t have to oversee Wilson, he would be a great head coach.
