Alex Manske is now leaning toward the Iowa State Cyclones, despite being Nebraska football’s top target in the 2025 recruiting class.

Prior to the whole Dylan Raiola controversy, Nebraska football appeared to be the front-runner for Iowa’s Alex Manske, a 2025 quarterback.

Mankse, who is 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, is rated as a three-star talent. In terms of overall rankings, he is ranked No. 516 by 247 Sports. The Iowa prospect had visited Lincoln six times since Matt Rhule’s hiring the previous year.

The On3 prediction algorithm even had the Huskers as the clear favorites to sign Manske. Manske was predicted by Husker Online’s Bryan Munson to commit to Nebraska football. But there’s no denying that since Dylan Raiola signed with the Huskers, things have changed.

Iowa State actually received a pair of crystal ball projections for Manske back in December. Nebraska was still expected to host the quarterback for a visit on Jan. 20, but he went to Texas A&M instead. But it’s not the Aggies who are now the leader.

Iowa State trending as the favorite

Along with the other crystal ball predictions, Allen Trieu of 247 Sports has made one for the Cyclones to select the in-state quarterback this week. That can indicate that a commitment is about to happen. You never know. Sean Callahan of Husker Online claims that the Huskers and Manske will soon have a face-to-face meeting.

I’m sure they’ll make an effort to get him back to campus. But the writing might be on the wall as Nebraska football offered a different quarterback for 2025.

Furthermore, if all goes as planned, Dylan Raiola and Daniel Kaelin may start for the next five years, making it tough to acquire a quarterback in 2025.

Therefore, it could be wiser to concentrate recruiting efforts on acquiring Dayton Raiola in the 2026 class, since this could bring in another exceptional signal-caller down the road. In all honesty, there really isn’t much of a choice between Manske and Dayton Raiola—it’s Raiola all the way.
