For a Super Bowl berth, the Ravens take on the NFL’s “version of Alabama.”

The Kansas City Chiefs are getting ready to compete on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game for the sixth straight year. When the NFL’s AFC-NFC era began in 1970, that is the second-longest streak in history.

“Over time, I believe the Chiefs to be the Alabama of professional football,” Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey stated. They may think, “Oh, they’re not looking that good,” year in and year out. They are not like this. They remain as “that” team. They remain the squad to defeat. The Chiefs are still the team to beat, regardless of whether they are winning or losing. They are the Super Bowl champions, so we need everyone to play at their very best if we want to defeat them.

The AFC’s position in Super Bowl LVIII on February 11 will be decided by the match between Kansas City and the Ravens on Sunday at 2 p.m. CST at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The game this Sunday will air on CBS.

The Chiefs’ record of eight straight conference titles is second only to the New England Patriots’ eight-year run in the AFC title game from 2011 to 2018. The Oakland Raiders, who participated in the AFC Championship Game every year from 1973 to 1977, are being surpassed by Kansas City to hold the record for the second-longest streak.

Since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starting quarterback, the Chiefs have advanced to the AFC championship game twice, and Mahomes has been named the league’s Most Valuable Player twice in that time. However, the Pro Football Writers of America have already selected Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson as the league’s MVP for the 2023 campaign.

Humphrey stated, “It’s those two quarterbacks and then everybody else, so we’re playing one of the two best quarterbacks.” I believe there will be a great showdown between the two finest quarterbacks in the world as they will be facing each other on the same field.

Would the Ravens be better against Mahomes if they practiced against Jackson?

The main distinction, in Humphrey’s opinion, is that Lamar won’t be touched in practice. We make an effort to keep our distance from him. However, Lamar is certainly much speedier than Mahomes. However, Mahomes’ ability to avoid pressure is similar to what he possesses. Telling some of the men about my personal experience, I said, “When you come off the blitz, Mahomes will pump fake you.”A few years back, I had a great nice quarterback hit on Mahomes. Sadly, though, he had already scored a touchdown with the ball before I touched him, demonstrating how adept he is with it.

“I knew the league was in trouble when I saw him practicing throwing the ball and running backwards during the offseason. It’s obvious what he can do.” Thus, his on-field antics are rather bizarre. However, I believe Lamar has given us some fairly excellent glances at it; presumably, though, things will change slightly when there are actual bullets involved.

Humphrey stated that given Kansas City’s and its quarterback’s achievements, Baltimore’s victory on Sunday would be even more remarkable for a conference championship game.

On Thursday, Humphrey stated, “It would be huge.” “I’m simply so eager to go outside, hopefully. It’s been incredible to defeat them, for this city, and for the supporters. It seems to me that the fans are constantly saying, “This moment. This moment.” This year is ours. This year is ours. It’s an incredibly thrilling occasion to be able to enjoy it in front of our supporters at M&T Bank Stadium in our home colors after finally arriving. ..

It’s simply incredibly unique. There are so many factors coming together in this game: Mahomes, the Chiefs defense, and our supporters. To defeat this team, in my opinion, everyone will need to put forth their best effort.

Regarding his participation in Sunday’s game, Humphrey expressed “hopefully” as he hasn’t played since suffering a calf injury during a 56-19 victory against the Miami Dolphins on December 31.

Before being labeled as a full participant in Friday’s session, Humphrey only participated in two limited practices this week. His status is listed as “questionable” for the game on Sunday.

Although he couldn’t say “for sure,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh stated on Friday that he was “confident” Humphrey will play.

Former Hoover High School and Alabama standout Humphrey missed the regular-season finale and last week’s 34-10 playoff victory over the Houston Texans due to a calf injury. He also missed the first four games of the 2023 season following foot surgery during training camp.

Mike Macdonald, the defensive coordinator for Baltimore, expressed his excitement at the possibility of the three-time Pro Bowler returning to the starting lineup. You simply consider the season he’s had. It has faced numerous challenges. Compared to his previous experiences, this has been different. It would be fantastic to witness it and feel like he can physically contribute on game day if he is ready to return.
