Ex-Ravens OC will be hired by Chargers to bolster Jim Harbaugh’s staff

After acquiring Jim Harbaugh, the Los Angeles Chargers still need to complete the coaching staff. There are a lot of excellent possibilities out there, so LA ought to be able to pick up a few. Having said that, it appears that the team is getting close to signing a former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Greg Roman is expected to join Jim Harbaugh’s staff as a member of the Chargers. The role is yet to be determined, but it should be disclosed shortly.

“Sources: Greg Roman, a renowned offensive strategist, is set to join the Chargers tomorrow and hold a key position on Jim Harbaugh’s staff. The two parties are settling the finer points.

Harbaugh and Roman have previously collaborated. From 2011 to 2014, Jim Harbaugh led the San Francisco 49ers, and the two were in a relationship. Roman also worked as Stanford’s associate head coach from 2009 to 2010 during Harbaugh’s tenure.

Although it’s unclear what role Greg Roman will serve, he should be a major help to the Charger’ offense. He’s well respected around the league and brings plenty of experience to the table. Despite that, he’s also earned a reputation of calling a ton of run-pass options and run plays in general. So, it’ll be interesting to see what position he’s given in LA.

Having said that, the Chargers will soon announce their coaching staff in full. After that’s over, the team may concentrate on strengthening the roster. Due to growing rumors, the team may be rather busy as they prepare to make some significant transactions.
