Weather-Hit AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Won As He Makes It His Third PGA TOUR Title

Following the cancellation of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am due to bad weather, Wyndham Clark emerged victorious on the PGA Tour for the third time.

Storms on Sunday night forced the cancellation of the final round, giving the US Open champion of last year’s tournament the championship.

Although the audience may not have been thrilled with the outcome, Clark remained ecstatic about his victory on what he called his “favorite place in the world.”

And it came courtesy of a scintillating third-round 60, a course record at Pebble Beach Golf Links, a score that got him to 17-under, one shot ahead of Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg and two ahead of another in-form European, Matthieu Pavon of France.

Heavy storms rocked the Montery Peninsula throughout the day, and with poor weather and strong winds forecast to continue into the early hours of Monday, the PGA Tour made the decision to cancel the final round at 6pm local time, out of an “abundance of caution” for spectators and players.

The notification said as follows: “Very strong winds are expected to extend the storm that affected the Monterey Peninsula during the day on Sunday into the early hours of Monday.

“Despite the fact that conditions are expected to improve by Monday morning, there won’t be any play on Monday due to extreme caution for everyone’s safety. This decision was made after consulting with Monterey County emergency authorities, who have issued a Shelter in Place order for the entire Pebble Beach community until early tomorrow morning.

“Therefore, after 54 holes, the tournament results shall be final in compliance with the PGA TOUR Regulations.”

Before going on his amazing run on Saturday, Clark was six shots down. “It’s maybe not the way you dream of winning,” he conceded.

“Having said that, many of us felt that this might be our last round yesterday—not that we knew, but we definitely had this outside shot.”

The 30-year-old American improved to third in the FedExCup and won his third race in nine months. He also received 700 FedEx Cup points for the victory.
