Keylan Abrams, a three-star linebacker committed to Purdue since June 2023, recently found himself feeling unexpectedly at home during a visit to Baylor. Despite his prior commitment, Abrams was open to exploring his options and engaged in discussions with Christian, a key figure at Baylor.

Although Keylan Abrams has a June 2023 commitment to Purdue, he has been open to calls from Christian Robinson, Khenon Hall, and the Baylor staff. Abrams, along with a number of his DeSoto (Texas) teammates, took advantage of the Bears’ increased interest with a visit on Friday.

Abrams’ visit to Baylor proved to be more than just a routine trip. Immersed in the welcoming atmosphere of the campus and the warmth of the Baylor community, Abrams felt a sense of belonging that resonated deeply with him. The hospitality extended to him by Christian and others at Baylor left a lasting impression, prompting Abrams to reconsider his collegiate options.

“It was amazing,” Abrams told BearsIllustrated. “First time actually going behind the scenes at Baylor, you know, normally it’s just a camp or a game, but it was really cool to go see the campus and different things throughout Baylor University, instead of just Baylor football.”

While Abrams remains committed to Purdue, his experience at Baylor has sparked a newfound openness to the possibility of joining the Bears’ program. The sense of camaraderie and family-like atmosphere that he encountered during his visit has left him intrigued and eager to explore the potential of what Baylor has to offer.

With his prior visits to Waco and his familiarity with the program from past team outings, Abrams, the state champion Eagle, knew exactly what to expect on Friday. Baylor met and beyond every one of Abrams’ expectations, to put it mildly.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his recruitment, Abrams remains focused on making the best decision for his future. With offers and opportunities from multiple programs on the table, he faces a pivotal moment in his football journey. Ultimately, Abrams’ decision will be guided by a desire to find a program where he can thrive both athletically and personally, surrounded by a supportive community that feels like family.
