“Breaking News: KC Chiefs Sign Promising WR…

Anthony Miller and Brian Hill provide the San Francisco 49ers depth.

To improve the team’s depth towards the end of the regular season, KC is adding two offensive weapons.

With the 2023 Kansas City Chiefs regular season coming to an end, the playoffs are beginning to take shape. The team is bringing in a few of pass-catchers because attrition is starting to set in and depth is more crucial than ever.

Anthony Miller, a wide receiver, and Izaiah Gathings, a tight end, are being signed by Kansas City, according to a report on Wednesday from Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston. Wilson did not initially say whether or not the two are joining the practice squad, but that is the likely outcome.

Together with fellow tight end E.J. Jenkins, Gathings was allegedly invited by the Chiefs for a workout on Tuesday. The team probably needed an extra person at the position in order to even out its numbers there, especially since Gerrit Prince was recently added to the practice squad injury list. Gathings signed a contract with Kansas City in July of this year, but he was ultimately waived prior to the start of the regular season.

Miller’s signing by general manager Brett Veach is a fascinating one. In 2018, the former Memphis standout was selected with the 51st overall pick. During his first season with the Chicago Bears, he accumulated 423 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. Miller played in three total games with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans after spending three years there. This year, he participated in one 49ers preseason game but failed to record a reception. He was signed by the Indianapolis Colts to their practice squad, but the 29-year-old was let go in October.
