Over the past few years, the Jekyll and Hyde Jacksonville Jaguars have taken their supporters on an incredible emotional roller coaster, sometimes all inside the same game. Their 2023–24 season came to an unambiguous conclusion in misery, with Trevor Lawrence’s reputation suffering greatly as a result of his inability to guide the Jags back into the postseason.

A large contract extension would probably be the team’s first objective this offseason if the rookie quarterback performed well in the latter part of the season. Rather, in three of his final four games, he threw seven interceptions, and Jacksonville blew an 8-3 lead to miss the playoffs completely. The Tennessee Titans terminated the season early, shocking both the team and the fans, and with it went a surefire divisional title.

While Lawrence did fight a number of injuries during the Jaguars’ collapse, including a shoulder injury that kept him out of action in Week 17, the outcome paints a bleak picture of the situation. Is he able to make this franchise a success? Is it urgent to sign a new contract if the front office thinks the answer is “yes,” which it most likely does at this point?

The 24-year-old is not putting too much effort into that; instead, he is letting his agency and general manager Trent Baalke handle the specifics. His goal is to contribute in whatever way he can to help Jacksonville resume its upward trajectory.
