Bears News: Report: Julius Peppers, Devin Hester, and Steve McMichaels are inducted into the Hall of Fame

Steve “Mongo” McMichael, a legend of the Chicago Bears, will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Thursday at the NFL Honors, according to multiple reports.

“Mongo” played 13 seasons with the Bears, was twice selected to the All-Pro team and was an All-Pro twice. He ranks second in Bears history with 92½ sacks and third in tackles (814).

“He needs to see himself enshrined in the Hall of Fame,” Misty said in a statement during his ALS hospitalization. “Please pray for him to get through this.”

Before his selection as a finalist, a release stated, “The beloved Super Bowl XX Champion is battling ALS, which has progressed to the point of leaving McMichael paralyzed from the neck down, unable to speak, breathe, or eat on his own.” “The hope of being inducted into the Hall of Fame has sustained Steve throughout his three-year fight against the debilitating and cruel disease.

” Devin Hester, a return man, and Julius Peppers, a defensive end, will become the next inductees alongside McMichaels.

Hester holds the NFL record for most special-team touchdowns in a regular season,

while Peppers had 37.5 sacks in four seasons with the Bears and is fourth all-time in sacks with 159 1/2.
