The 2024 recruiting class of Maryland football had a late addition when defensive lineman Dimitry Nicolas, who had previously committed to Auburn, signed a contract with the university.
Nicolas, the No. 93 defensive lineman in his class, is a three-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Opa Locka, Florida native had previously entertained thoughts of Pittsburgh, Miami, and Florida.
Nicolas recorded 33 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and eight sacks in his junior year. He recorded 19 tackles and two sacks in the team’s state runner-up season at Norland High School this past fall.
When Maryland and Auburn played in the Music City Bowl in late December, they were acquainted, but their relationship has only grown stronger since then. Rico Walker, a former tight end for Maryland, went to Auburn in early January. A month later, the Terps acquired Nicolas.
Additionally, on early signing day, four-star defensive back Brandon Lee committed to Maryland instead of South Carolina, stealing a commitment from an SEC program.
Two more recruits who had previously committed signed with Maryland on Wednesday. Three-star safety Shamar McIntosh, a December commit, and four-star defensive back Kevyn Humes both signed letters to commit to Maryland in late January.
The 2024 recruiting class from Maryland rose to No. 39 in the 247Sports composite team rankings with the addition of Nicolas.
