Buffalo is bolstering their defensive line with another hire. Matt Edwards has joined the Bills as an assistant defensive line coach.

Edwards served as a defensive assistant and pass rush specialist coach with the Raiders for the previous two seasons. Coached defensive end Maxx Crosby to consecutive seasons with ten or more sacks, including a career-high 14.5 in 2023.

Edwards played a variety of positions on the Titans staff before to taking on the role as head coach in Vegas. In 2018 he began as an assistant special teams coach, moved to defensive assistant in 2020, and served as Tennessee’s assistant special teams coach during his final season there.

Edwards coached at the collegiate level for fifteen seasons before to entering the NFL. He served as Tiffin University’s defensive coordinator from 2014 to 2017, Florida Atlantic University’s defensive line coach and special teams coordinator in 2013, Miami of Ohio’s defensive ends coach, linebackers coach and special teams coordinator in 2011, and Kent State’s defensive line coach from 2006 to 2010. In 2003, Edwards started working as a coach at the College of Wooster, where he oversaw the linebackers.

Edwards was a defensive end and linebacker for Miami of Ohio during his collegiate career. His hometown is Cincinnati, Ohio.
