Breaking News:”Touchdown Prospects: Cowboys Weighing the Impact of Signing the 13-TD Ravens RB for …

Baltimore Ravens RB Gus Edwards is being linked to the Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys may need to select a determined Baltimore Ravens running back in order to address their need for a running back. Gus Edwards has had a good start to his NFL career, but he needs a new team because he is eligible for free agency.

Timm Hamm of SI.com recently discussed Edwards’ future and said the Cowboys would be a logical suitor. Despite Edwards’ talent, Hamm calls a prospective deal a “steal” because of his expected contract figures.

Ravens running back Gus Edwards is one candidate for Pollard that the Cowboys would be interested in. With Ezekiel Elliott gone, Edwards might be the one to bring some aggression back to the rushing game, according to a post by Hamm on February 12. Additionally, Edwards might be really valuable. According to Spotrac.com, Edwards is worth about $4.5 million on the open market, which is practically a steal considering the amount of work he can produce.

The Cowboys could get a better running back for that kind of money, and they could perform much worse than Edwards. In a two-RB system, Edwards has shown he is a potent weapon who can even bear the load as a lead back.

Ravens RB Gus Edwards Gets Contract Year Opportunity

While injuries are never a good thing, they might present other players with opportunity. That’s precisely what occurred with Edwards and J.K. Dobbins. Week 1 saw Dobbins suffer a torn Achilles, so Edwards did not fill the backup role as originally thought.

Edwards was excellent in the role in certain aspects. According to Pro Football Reference, he ran for 810 yards last season, which is his biggest season total ever, and scored 13 touchdowns. But he only gained 4.1 yards on average per rush, almost a full yard less than usual.

Edwards embraced his job as a bruiser. However, he didn’t exactly blow out in terms of production, receiving 198 handoffs. He was still useful, but it’s critical to understand that an RB tandem is still where he performs best.

And at $4–$5 million a season, it would be worthwhile. At a total cost of, say, $6 million year, Dallas should draft another RB regardless of the circumstances.

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard Talks Free Agency

Though it’s way too soon to say for sure, it appears that Tony Pollard may be leaving. Pollard did manage to reach the 1000-yard plateau, but Dallas had to pay a premium for it.

Pollard is cognizant of the circumstances as we approach 2024. Pollard stated in an interview with Blogging the Boys that while he understands the Cowboys must make business decisions, he still wants to stay in Dallas.
Pollard remarked, “If I could choose, I would love to be in Dallas.” But you understand that it’s a business at the end of the day. It is what it is, then. You must be prepared for every eventuality.

In addition, Pollard said that his future would “clear up” in the weeks following the 2024 Super Bowl. Expect the ball to start rolling pretty fast now that the Super Bowl is officially over.
