To be quite honest, I hardly paid attention to last night’s Nebraska vs. Ohio State basketball game. I was going back and forth trying to convince my son that he best eat his supper and that no, chicken nuggets are not an option, so I had it on, but on mute.
He skipped his meal. I’m not sure if that counts as a victory.
However, I couldn’t help but feel that the two teams were officiated differently as I eventually sat down to watch the final 4:30 of the game while silent. Bump calls on one end resulted in fouls, while no calls were made on the other end.
In terms of officiating, I myself strive to be as impartial as possible. My buddies and wife think it’s crazy. But last night, there seemed to be a difference in everything on both ends of the floor.
Then, last night, this was dropped by Arbitrary Analytics, an account situated in Husker.
The clubs’ net foul differential in just 70 games this season has been greater than in tonight’s #Nebrasketball contest (-12).
Nothing in it, in my opinion, is biased against Nebraska. This, in my opinion, will be an issue for the duration of the conference. It’s hard to win on the road, and I believe that the officiating may play a role.
