Roosters reveal injury update on forward duo
The Roosters had two concerns from their clash in Las Vegas.
The Sydney Roosters have announced that Siua Wong has been cleared of any major injuries, while Siili Tupouniua has been sent for scans on his left groin.
During the Roosters’ Round 1 victory over the Brisbane Broncos in Las Vegas on Sunday (Australian time), both players departed the field.
It has been disclosed that Tupouniua departed the field early in the second half due to soreness in his left groin.
The second-rower, who missed the majority of the 2023 season due to an ACL injury and made his competitive rugby league comeback against the Broncos, will get scans and evaluations as a precaution, even if the team doesn’t think the pain is causing any serious injuries.
Due to the Roosters’ abundance of second-row players, the forward, who has mostly played edge forward, briefly filled the role of lock during the preseason and may find himself doing so again as the season goes on.
As of right now, it’s unclear if Tupouniua will be well enough to play next weekend.
Wong, however, sustained an injury late in the second half and had to leave the field.
The explosive young player, who made waves in last year’s elimination final against the Cronulla Sharks, has already been ruled out with a serious injury, and the Roosters have stated he will be eligible for the team’s Round 2 matchup against the Manly Sea Eagles.
Due to the raps on him in the Roosters’ camp, Wong is expected to spend the majority of the season in the second row. He started in that position during Round 1.
As they go with their lengthy vacation to return from Las Vegas prior to Round 2, the Roosters have reported no additional injury concerns from Round 1.
