New Auburn Tiger Transfer Gets High Praise From Defensive Coach
During the December transfer portal session, the Auburn Tigers gained some elite talent to their defensive backfield, and he should hear the call quickly.
This past season, the Tigers’ defensive backfield saw a significant loss in skill. Wesley McGriff, the cornerbacks coach at Auburn, didn’t let it stop him from praising the newest player in the cornerback room when he was questioned.
Antonio Kite left. After entering the transfer portal during the designated period, Alabama made their selections between the Auburn Tigers and Hugh Freeze. Thus far, he has impressed the coaching staff.
McGriff told local reporters on Wednesday, “When you have a guy that changes location, changes jobs, his whole world is turned upside down.” “Even though they are sleeping at a different location, eating in a different restaurant, and interacting with different people, he is displaying a lot of promise and skill. He knows a great deal. He is more intelligent than claimed. I can’t wait to watch him take off and put everything together. He’ll undoubtedly assist us and give us a boost this year.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound defensive back Kite joins a group of cornerbacks that is led by Kayin Lee and Keionte Scott. Scott switched from nickel to cornerback prior to Auburn’s game against Maryland in the bowl. As a true freshman the previous season, Lee—who was the third cornerback on the roster behind DJ James and Nehemiah Pritchett—saw significant playing time.
In DJ Durkin’s defense, Kite is anticipated to contend for a starting cornerback position this year.
During the previous season, Kite saw action in three games for Alabama, totaling 22 snaps.
