Fans of South Carolina men’s basketball have been wondering for weeks when head coach Lamont Paris will sign his well-earned new deal. In his second season in charge, Paris guided the Gamecocks to unprecedented heights. They finally received a response on Thursday morning when ESPN’s Pete Thamel revealed that Lamont Paris is anticipated to get a raise and contract extension (subject to board approval tomorrow morning), which would keep the Ohio native in the league through the 2029–2030 season and earn more than $4 million annually.
Paris assisted the team in surpassing the school record this past Saturday against the Mississippi State Bulldogs for regular season wins (25). He has been named the SEC Coach of the Year by the Associated Press and his coaching peers during the last few days. Additionally, he is vying for the title of Naismith National Coach of the Year.
