The former California Golden Bear is back in the Windy City, where he finds himself as a Bear.

In keeping with their offseason rampage, the Chicago Bears acquired wide receiver Keenan Allen, a six-time Pro Bowler.

The Chargers’ top receiver, according to NFL Fox broadcaster Jay Glazer, was traded to the Bears for a fourth-round choice.

After finishing with a franchise-record 108 receptions, 1,243 yards, and seven touchdowns for the Chargers, Allen is coming off of maybe his greatest season to date.

On Sunday, Allen, 31, who is about to enter the last year of a four-year contract, is expected to get a $5 million roster bonus. The seasoned receiver will line up opposite DJ Moore, another exceptional wide receiver.

Moore expressed his first thoughts on the Bears signing his new teammate in his most recent post on X, the previous Twitter platform.

With their complimentary skill sets, Moore and Allen have the potential to be the league’s best wide receiver duet, creating matchup problems for rival secondary defenses. Both players achieved over 1,000 receiving yards in 2023, placing them in the top 11 and top 20 in terms of receiving touchdowns.

Despite the fact that both players are obviously talented, there is still a question mark at quarterback. Chicago, with its receiving weapons, will be a QB-friendly atmosphere whether the Bears choose to retain Justin Fields or try to add a new face to the team through the draft.

The Bears have been as aggressive as any team has been this offseason, and they have had arguably the best offseason yet. Adding major talent to both sides of the ball in addition to multiple first-round picks in this year’s draft will allow the Bears to compete in the NFC North.

Since 2018, when it placed ninth in terms of offensive points scored, Chicago has not had a winning record. The Bears should be much more dangerous offensively now that Allen is a downfield threat. He’s a quarterback’s dream wide receiver because of his experience and superb route running.
